More Than Just a Generator
Can you guess what year this photo was taken? If you guessed 2016, you’re right!

This big generator may not look like much, but it has played an important role in supporting the everyday work and mission of The Raining Season. In Sierra Leone, infrastructure and other issues do not guarantee consistent access to electricity. A generator means The Raining Season can keep things running when the power goes out, and that means much more than simply keeping the lights on.

Reliable power helps make caring for the children safer at night, keeps important communication tools like sponsorship video calls running, and helps our TRS leadership and office staff stay connected to our U.S. based staff. It also helps create a more stable environment for the children to learn, grow, rest, communicate, and receive the care they need each day.

Looking back at this photo from the day we received this generator in July 2016 reminds us that sometimes the things that make the biggest difference aren’t the most exciting. A generator might not seem like a major part of our mission, but it makes so many other parts possible, and for ten years, this generator has done just that.
We are grateful to everyone who has helped provide the resources needed to keep The Raining Season running.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
