Our students are back to school, full of energy and anticipation, as we kick off the new academic year. On September 8, 2025, students at The Raining Season Preparatory School and those attending Rising Academy returned to school, ready to learn and grow. In preparation for the year ahead, supplies, including uniforms, backpacks, school shoes, and books, were purchased. These things help ensure our kids have what they need for a successful school year.

This school year is special as we celebrate not only the return of our students but also the launch of our Junior Secondary School (JSS) program. This milestone is an answer to prayer that will have a lasting impact on both TRS and the surrounding community for years to come.

While our students enjoyed their summer break, work continued behind the scenes. This week, we are sharing highlights from summer school and teacher professional development, as well as exciting news about the launch of our Junior Secondary School and updates from The Raining Season Preparatory School.
Summer School
Over the summer, The Raining Season Preparatory School offered a summer school session for the second consecutive year. This year, summer school was offered free of charge to children in Grade 6 through Junior Secondary School to introduce them to TRS's new Junior Secondary School. The program was a tremendous success, welcoming thirty-eight students from the local community. This gave students a valuable opportunity to strengthen their academic foundation and prepare for the year ahead. It was also an incredible opportunity for The Raining Season to serve the community and introduce our new Junior Secondary School program.
Teacher Professional Development
In August, TRS teachers participated in a two-day professional development program, designed to equip them with updated tools and strategies for the classroom. Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including child-centered teaching methods, curriculum and standards implementation, classroom management for effective learning, addressing the needs of diverse learners, and more.
Our school employs fourteen teachers, including five in our new Junior Secondary School program. Each of the five newly hired JSS teachers, all with over five years of experience, also participated in summer school and the professional development training. Their passion and expertise will be instrumental as we continue to grow our school.
The Raining Season Preparatory School
For the fourth year, The Raining Season has opened its school to the surrounding community! We have been fortunate to have a school on-site that so many of our children have attended and that there is room to serve the community at an affordable rate. This year, our school is serving thirty-two children from TRS and one hundred twenty-four children from the community in nursery school through grade six. We are thrilled to see our enrollment number increase each year. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers.

Also new this year is the launch of Scripture Union for all kids in Nursery School through Junior Secondary School. Scripture Union is an international, evangelical Christian movement that works to introduce children, young people, and families to Jesus through the Bible and prayer. At TRS Schools, the Scripture Union group will introduce children to Jesus. They will use the Bible and prayer to help children, young people, and families encounter Jesus and God. The majority of the children from the community are Muslim, and they do not know about Jesus, so this addition will give the students an opportunity to do Bible study and participate in organized prayer sessions in school.

Junior Secondary School
The 2025 school year marks the launch of our Junior Secondary School (JSS) at The Raining Season! This is an answer to prayer, and we are grateful to see our school grow, serving not only our own children but also those in the surrounding community. To help facilitate this transition, our school received minor updates, including new furniture, to prepare for the new school year. As we begin this new chapter, there are currently sixteen TRS students enrolled in JSS, alongside twelve community students.

The benefits of this addition extend beyond TRS. For the wider community, the JSS provides access to quality education at an affordable cost, enabling students to stay close to home while pursuing academic excellence. As Pastor Sam Laggah, the head of school, shared, "Establishing the JSS has a major impact on TRS as the kids attending the JSS will no longer go out of the coverage to acquire JSS education. The community will also obtain a quality education at an affordable cost. Kids in the community will not go far away from the community in search of a school that will provide quality education."
Rising Academy
This year, we have twelve children attending Senior Secondary School at Rising Academy. They returned to classes excited for the new school year and excited to see their friends from school. We are grateful that our children can receive an excellent education close to our center. Rising Academy's commitment to providing quality education is equipping young students with the tools they need to thrive.

As we begin this school year, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible progress being made at The Raining Season Preparatory School. From renovated classrooms and newly trained teachers to the life-changing launch of the Junior Secondary School, every step forward is only possible through the generosity and prayers of our sponsors and supporters. We know how important an excellent education is in impacting our children's future success. Education is a stepping stone in helping our kids achieve their dreams. Join us in praying for our teachers and children as they begin a new school year.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
