Meet the Director of the Covering

Dear TRS Supporter,

The Raining Season is blessed with an incredible in-country staff that is dedicated to caring for and serving the children at The Covering. Often, they wear many hats, serving in whatever capacity is needed. Nearly 70 staff members are employed in-country including; pastors, caregivers, cooks, housekeeping, security, social workers, and medical and therapeutic staff. They play a valuable role in The Raining Season’s mission to provide a hopeful future and seek justice for vulnerable children. The children are loved, protected, nurtured, and discipled by a staff full of God’s love. They act as His hands and feet on a daily basis.

As we continue to update our communications and blog, we look forward to giving you an up-close look at some of our incredible in-country staff members.

Today, we introduce you to Sorie Kamara. If you have followed The Raining Season for any amount of time, Sorie is both a familiar face and name. Sorie joined The Raining Season staff in February of 2013 as a Finance Assistant. On July 1, 2014, Sorie was promoted to Finance Manager at The Covering. His hard work and dedication led him to be named Director of the Covering in May 2018. He oversees the daily operations of The Covering, in addition to still handling the finances.

Sorie attended the University of Sierra Leone Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM). He is currently working to obtain his Master’s degree in finance.

Sorie has incredible vision for The Raining Season. He is a humble leader committed to serving the Lord and The Raining Season. When accepting the position as Director of the Covering, Sorie said, “I am not concerned about the money. I am doing what God has called me to do and I am excited about this opportunity.” Sorie envisions an organization that is self-sustaining, including a property with room to educate all children at The Covering in-house. He is looking forward to the development and expansion of programs including agriculture and the impact the new Roots Program will have.

We are thankful for Sorie’s leadership and dedication to The Raining Season. His gentle spirit, willingness to serve and commitment make him a true asset to The Raining Season.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
