A Day in the Life at The Covering: Meet Davida

Every child deserves a safe place to live, opportunities through education, nutritious food, essential medical care, and spiritual nurturing. At The Raining Season, that happens each day because of your support. Today, we want to give you a little glimpse into a typical day for Davida, who just celebrated her 13th birthday this week!

Davida has called The Raining Season home for nearly seven years. She is quiet but radiates joy and has such a caring heart. Her favorite colors are pink and blue, she loves chicken and rice, and one of her favorite things to do is play balance ball with her friends.

Her day at The Covering begins early as the children wake up, eat breakfast, complete chores, and get ready for school. After morning activities are complete, it is time for school. Davida attends The Raining Season Preparatory School alongside children from both TRS and the surrounding community. She is currently in Grade 5 and is doing very well in school because learning is important to her. In the classroom, she spends her day studying subjects like reading, math, science, and social studies. She especially enjoys reading.

After school, Davida and the other children have time to rest, study, and play together. Davida enjoys spending time with the other girls, coloring and playing games.  Her favorite game is balance ball. Many of the children enjoy spending time outside playing games, running, and spending time together before the rainy season brings more indoor afternoons.

In the evenings after dinner, the children gather for devotions and prayer together before getting ready for bed. Sometimes Davida joins everyone together outside for worship, prayer, and a Bible lesson led by Pastor William or one of the older children. On other evenings, devotion time takes place in her apartment with her auntie. When devotions end, the children begin preparing for bed and settling into their rooms for the night.

Because of sponsorship and the faithfulness of so many supporters, Davida is growing, learning, healing, and thriving. She has a safe place to live, three meals a day, medical care, an education, and people who disciple and encourage her daily. Most importantly, Davida knows that she is loved. We are so grateful to see her growing and thriving with a bright future ahead.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
