Introducing the James 1:27 Sponsorship Drive

This October, we are launching the James 1:27 Sponsorship Drive with one clear and urgent goal: 27 new sponsorships by Orphan Sunday on November 9th. That’s 27 children cared for through the love and faithfulness of people like you. In total, this represents $14,580, which is enough to fund 27 sponsorships for one full year.  We are setting our goal as a dollar amount to give multiple ways to impact this need.

Each child at The Raining Season is supported through a team of sponsors, because it truly takes a community to meet every need. To be fully sponsored, a child needs ten sponsors giving $45 per month. Together, these gifts provide for every aspect of their care, including nutrition, education, medical needs, safety, and spiritual growth. Whether you are the first or tenth sponsor, your commitment plays a vital role in ensuring each child receives the complete, consistent care they deserve.

Why James 1:27?

We chose 27 sponsorships to tie directly to James 1:27, a verse that has shaped and guided The Raining Season since our beginning. While not every child in our care is a true orphan, we are committed to caring for vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. Sponsorship is a tangible way to live out this verse as it helps to meet their needs and point them toward hope and a future.

Why Sponsorship Matters

Every sponsorship makes an immediate impact on a child’s life. At The Raining Season, sponsorship fuels our five pillars of care:

• Nutrition: Each child receives three meals a day, consisting of foods such as bread, rice, cassava leaves, and beans.

• Education: School supplies, uniforms, and tuition open doors to learning and opportunity.

• Medical Care: From routine checkups to urgent needs, children receive the care they deserve.

• Safety and Security: A safe home environment where children are protected and cared for.

• Spiritual Growth: Daily discipleship and the hope of Christ poured into every child.

When you choose to sponsor, you are not simply giving funds.  You are joining hands with us in raising up a generation of leaders who will one day change Sierra Leone.
