June Team Funds Help Meet Needs and Bless The Raining Season

When a team travels to The Covering, they leave a lasting impact that extends far beyond the days they spend in Sierra Leone. Thanks to the generosity of our June team and the additional funds they raised specifically to meet needs at The Raining Season, several meaningful projects were completed that will benefit our children, staff, and school for years to come.

One of the largest projects was the construction of a new storage shed in the yard near the kitchen. The shed features a concrete floor and a locking door, providing a secure place to store supplies and helping keep our compound more organized. 

The team also provided funds for a variety of practical items that help The Covering and its school run smoothly. Aunty Doris purchased new dishes, bowls, cups, and other kitchen essentials for each apartment. The excitement from the aunties as they unpacked and began using the new dishes was easy to see. Sometimes it is the simple things that make everyday work feel a little brighter.

Every child also received a brand-new pair of sandals. Kids grow fast, and everyday wear and tear shows, so this was extra special to receive an unexpected new pair of shoes.

Additional purchases included tires for several TRS vehicles, televisions, DVD players, extension cords, fans, and a printer. These are items that may not always fit within our regular operating budget but play an important role in helping the apartments, school, and organization function well each day and will provide entertainment during the rainy season when outdoor time is limited.

The team also invested in our school by purchasing bright educational posters and alphabet carpets for some of the classrooms. These colorful additions create a more engaging learning environment and support the education of both our TRS children and the many students from the surrounding community who attend our school.

Our child sponsorship program faithfully provides for the ongoing care of our children through essentials like food, education, medical care, and daily needs. Special team funds like these are able to come alongside that support by supporting larger projects, replacing worn-out equipment, purchasing one-time items, and providing special extras that often fall outside of our regular budget. Together, these gifts strengthen the mission in ways that neither could accomplish alone.

Your generosity provided practical resources, encouraged our staff, blessed our children, and strengthened the work of The Raining Season in countless ways. We are so grateful for your willingness to invest in TRS and the lives of the children we serve.
