Young Life Africa Visits The Raining Season
During our June team trip to Sierra Leone, The Raining Season had the opportunity to welcome leaders from Young Life Africa for an evening of fellowship, singing, and time with our children and staff.
The visit came about through a special connection between one of our June team members, Mabry, and Young Life. Young Life has been an important part of Mabry’s life for many years. That connection took on new meaning when Mabry discovered that Young Life was also serving teenagers in Sierra Leone, the same country that she had traveled to multiple times while visiting and serving The Raining Season.

Knowing she would be returning to The Raining Season in June, Mabry reached out to Young Life Africa leaders and invited them to join the team at The Covering. Several leaders made the journey to spend time with the children and staff, some traveling for hours while balancing their ministry with university studies or full-time jobs. Their willingness to come was a reminder of the heart behind Young Life’s ministry of showing up and building relationships.

Young Life Africa seeks to reach teenagers through clubs, camps, discipleship groups, and ongoing mentorship. Young Life leaders intentionally spend time getting to know teenagers, earning their trust, and walking alongside them. Their ministry is led by people from Sierra Leone who understand the culture and the experiences of the young people they serve. For the children at The Raining Season, this provides another network of caring adults who can encourage them outside of their daily lives at The Covering. The relationship between Young Life Africa and The Raining Season has continued to grow through visits, camps, and opportunities to invest in our young people.
When the Young Life leaders visited The Covering in June, they spent time reconnecting with the children and staff before gathering everyone together for singing. The leaders also shared a Scripture message with the group.

For Mabry, seeing these two important parts of her life come together during the June trip was especially meaningful. But the visit was about something much bigger than one person’s connection. It was an opportunity for two ministries, both committed to caring for young people in Sierra Leone, to come together and encourage the children they serve.

We are thankful for the Young Life leaders who took the time to travel to The Raining Season and spend part of their day with our children and staff. Their presence was a reminder that our children have a growing community of people who care about them, pray for them, and want to see them thrive. We look forward to seeing how this partnership continues to grow and how Young Life Africa will continue walking alongside our children as they grow into young adults.
Please join us in praying for Young Life Africa and the leaders who faithfully invest in teenagers throughout Sierra Leone. Pray also for the children of The Raining Season, that they will continue to be surrounded by people who love them, encourage them, and point them toward Jesus.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
