Remembering Alie

It is with great sadness that we share with you the loss of one of our precious children at The Covering. Alie, age 2, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, on his way to the hospital. We first introduced you to Alie when he came to our center in early December and was in immediate need of medical attention. Because of his fragile health, he spent several weeks in the hospital until he was healthy enough to come to The Covering. Alie was making steady improvements and being monitored through weekly appointments at the hospital. Unfortunately, just one day after his weekly check-up, his condition worsened, and as his aunties rushed him to the hospital, he passed away.

Our in-country Director, Sorie, shared, “We know Alie is with the Lord and feeling no more pain. We are also grateful that a team from a church in Nebraska who started supporting him were present and had the opportunity to interact with him before he passed away. Even though we are saddened about the news of his passing, we will not grieve like the rest of mankind who do not have hope. 1st Thessalonians 4:14 reads, ‘For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

We are grateful for the love and support he received from our staff, our children, and our teams that visited in February and March. During his time at the center, he enjoyed spending time in his walker and interacting with the older children. His life was celebrated with a memorial service at the center on March 11th, just one day shy of what would have been his third birthday.

Please join us in praying for all those who loved Alie. Thank you, Lord, for Alie’s life. He was a precious child of God. Thank you for the impact he made in his short life. Thank you for showing Christ through Alie to the people who sponsored, loved, and cared for him. We pray for your continued protection of our children, staff, and TRS family.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
