At The Raining Season, our in-country team plays an essential role in helping children grow, learn, and build brighter futures. Each staff member brings unique experiences, talents, and a heart for serving others. Today, we are excited to introduce you to Morlai Kamara, a teacher at The Raining Season Preparatory School whose connection to our organization goes far beyond his role in the classroom.

Morlai is 27 years old and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is also a proud father to a daughter and enjoys playing soccer and listening to music in his free time. While Morlai has officially worked for The Raining Season for three years, his story with TRS began long before he became a staff member.

Growing up, Morlai received educational support from Andrew Sisco, whose family served TRS as long-term missionaries in the early years of TRS. Andrew helped Morlai continue his education beginning in Primary 6 through college. During those years, Morlai lived with Pastor Daniel and Aunty Augusta, two former members of The Raining Season staff. Their care and support played an important role in helping Morlai pursue his education and prepare for his future.

After graduating from university, Morlai reached out to our In-Country Director, Sorie Kamara, for help finding a job. That conversation opened the door for him to begin his professional journey at The Raining Season. He initially worked in our sponsorship program, helping connect children with their sponsors through their monthly video calls. Today, Morlai teaches Junior Secondary School classes for grades 7–9 at The Raining Season Preparatory School.

For Morlai, working at TRS is especially meaningful because he has seen firsthand the difference educational opportunities and a supportive community can make in a child’s life. He shared that he had promised himself he would one day work for The Raining Season because of the tremendous impact the organization had on his own life.

One of his favorite parts of teaching is working with the children from The Covering while also welcoming students from the surrounding community. Morlai appreciates that the school gives children whose families may not otherwise be able to afford a quality education an opportunity. Having experienced similar challenges growing up, he understands just how valuable that opportunity can be.

Looking ahead, Morlai hopes to see The Raining Season Preparatory School continue to grow, eventually expanding beyond Junior Secondary School to include Senior Secondary School. With enrollment increasing each year and a dedicated team of teachers and staff, he believes the school has tremendous potential.

When reflecting on his journey, Morlai shared how his perspective on working at The Raining Season has changed over time. What he once imagined might be a short chapter in his career has become something much more meaningful. He sees the organization’s mission as one that not only meets children’s needs today but also helps prepare them for the future. Morlai shared, “For me, TRS saved me, and the value of Christ in these kids is what crowned it all.”

His words remind us of the lasting impact of The Raining Season’s mission. Morlai’s story has come full circle. Once a young student receiving support and encouragement, he is now helping provide those same opportunities to the next generation. Through education, mentorship, and the love of Christ, he is investing in the lives of children who, like him, have incredible potential.

We are incredibly grateful for Morlai and the unique perspective he brings to our team. His story is a testament to the lasting difference that love, education, and opportunity can make. Thank you, Morlai, for choosing to give back and for helping shape the future of our students at The Raining Season!

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
