The Foundation of Turkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone Serves at The Raining Season

The Raining Season is grateful for the many people who link arms with us and support our mission, whether through financial support, travel, prayer, or donations of items.  We recently experienced another reminder of God's faithfulness at The Raining Season through the visit and generous support of the Foundation of Turkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone (FTGSL).  Founded in 2020, the Foundation of Turkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening connections between Sierra Leonean Turkish alumni and local communities. Through programs, scholarships, and community projects, FTGSL works to promote educational, economic, and cultural exchange throughout Sierra Leone. 

FTGSL, working in collaboration with humanitarian partners from Turkey, visited The Raining Season and helped to make several improvements as well as donate some supplies.  A major project they completed was repairing and painting both the residential and administrative buildings at the center.  The weather is very harsh on the buildings, so this created a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for everyone who visits and calls The Covering home. In preparation for the rainy season, all the apartment's zinc roofing was also replaced to prevent leaks, offering lasting protection and peace of mind for the months ahead. These improvements ensure that our children can live and learn in a secure, safe, and well-cared-for space.

The generosity of the Foundation of Turkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone also extended directly to meeting the everyday needs of our children. Each child received a backpack filled with school supplies, a new school uniform, and a new pair of shoes. The team also provided essential items for rest and health, including 80 mattresses, 40 bunk beds, 80 bedsheets, 80 pillows, and 100 mosquito nets. These contributions significantly improve comfort, safety, and well-being at the center.

As our In-Country Director, Sorie Kamara, shared, "We are truly grateful to God for His provision made evident through this visit. We give all glory to God for what He has done through their generous outpouring of support." Their visit to The Raining Season highlights the power of partnership rooted in service and compassion.  We are thankful to the Foundation of Turkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone and their partners for walking alongside The Raining Season in such a generous way.
