The Raining Season

Introducing The Cotton Tree Collection

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” - Galatians 5:13

Our Merchandise Team has been working behind the scenes to develop our latest product launch, The Cotton Tree Collection. Not only is The Cotton Tree Collection another way to support The Raining Season, but it is also symbolic of the Cotton Tree that sits in the center of Freetown.

The history of the Cotton Tree in Freetown dates back to 1792. According to legend, the Cotton Tree gained importance when a group of former slaves landed on the shoreline of Sierra Leone, walked up to the giant tree that sits just above the bay, and held a service of thanksgiving there, gathering to pray and sing hymns of thanks to God for their deliverance to a free land. Today, the Cotton Tree marks the center of Freetown, the nation’s capital, and continues to serve as a symbol of freedom in Sierra Leone.

Because of the Covering, our children can also experience freedom; freedom in Christ, freedom from the burden of sin, freedom from fear, freedom from poverty, and freedom from hunger. John 8:31-32 says, “Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”

The Raining Season will continue to fight for these rights for orphaned and discarded children in Sierra Leone until there is freedom from the orphan crisis. Supporting TRS through The Cotton Tree Collection will empower The Raining Season to continue to grow, dream, and envision an even better future for the children we serve in Sierra Leone by increasing our general fundraising account.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
