The Raining Season provides a safe place to live, opportunity through education, nutritious food, essential medical care, spiritual nurturing, and so much more every day to more than ninety-five children and young adults at The Covering and through the Roots Project. We provide refuge and hope, safety and opportunity. Our kids are extraordinary, hardworking, resilient, intelligent, and determined.
This week, we are taking a closer look at Dauda in our ongoing How it Started - How it’s Going feature.
How it Started - Meet Dauda. Dauda was born on November 8, 2006. When he was four years old, Dauda and his younger brother James came to The Raining Season. His father died in a tragic boating accident in 2009. This boating accident brought many new children to our center. Because his father was the sole breadwinner of the family, his mother could no longer provide him with the care he needed, so Dauda and his brother were placed with TRS.
How it’s Going - Today, Dauda is fifteen years old. Because he has been able to count on three meals a day, Dauda has grown from a little boy to a young man in the twelve years he has been a part of The Raining Season. He is smart and enjoys school. Dauda enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing soccer and basketball in his free time. He is grateful for his aunties, uncles, brothers, and sisters as The Raining Season community provides a family environment for him.
Dauda has been able to call The Raining Season home for twelve years, thanks to an outstanding staff and the many sponsors that support him each month. Thank you for being part of Dauda’s story at The Raining Season. Because of people like you, Dauda is well cared for and knows that he is loved.
