Thank You, Pastor Daniel

Over the past fourteen years, we have had the privilege of having Pastor Daniel Kamara work for The Raining Season as our on-staff pastor and Logistics Manager. Recently, Pastor Daniel and his family made the decision to step away from The Raining Season to pursue the Lord’s calling in a new way.

Pastor Daniel joined The Raining Season as a staff member when we first opened our doors in 2009. Initially, he was employed as a carpenter, but with his background in ministry and heart for serving the children, he quickly became known as Pastor Daniel while wearing many other hats along the way. While Pastor Daniel always had a heart for the children and staff of The Raining Season, he also looked outside our gates to serve the surrounding community and beyond. He has devoted his life to sharing the gospel, even securing a bible for every child at The Covering. He loves our kids deeply and took the time to know, guide, and protect each and every one of them while serving as their spiritual father.

Our co-founder, Osseh Kamara, shared, “I came to know Pastor Daniel in 2006 when he was working for an orphanage called DOVE as I was a cab driver then driving an American family who adopted two kids from there. I was attracted to his quiet personality, and we became friends. About three years down the road, we met again when he was recommended to TRS by someone to employ him as one of the first people to be hired to work for TRS. He is a multi-talented person as he was employed as a staff member (Pastor and counselor) as a carpenter also, at that time, he and his men were in charge of building the bunk beds for the kids in the home. Pastor Daniel has been a very handy person for TRS, and his relationship with the kids, staff, and even team members cannot go unnoticed. He was also employed with his wife, Aunty Augusta, as she was also working as the home supervisor in charge of the staff and the kids. The two of them have been a blessing to TRS. Pastor Daniel and his wife, Aunty Augusta, will be sorely missed by the rest of the TRS family as they are taking a challenge in their lives. As a co-founder, I want to thank them for their relentless work they did for TRS, and I wish them all the best in their new journey.”

Pastor Daniel will be missed, but we wish him the very best in his next endeavor. Thank you, Pastor Daniel and Aunty Augusta, for your many years of service and dedication to the children and staff at The Raining Season. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus and discipling so many. We are grateful for your wisdom, selflessness, compassion, and kindness. Countless lives have been changed within our walls and within the Freetown community because you shared the gospel with them.

The Raining Season’s Executive Director, Lori Pyle, shared, “I was on the first trip where Pastor Daniel was hired, and at that time, I had no idea the impact he would have on our organization as a whole or on me personally. His passion for sharing Jesus is contagious, and it has been a great honor to watch him minister to our kids, staff, and community. Pastor Daniel and his wife Augusta will be missed at TRS, but I wish them nothing but love and success moving forward.”

Will you join us in praying for Pastor Daniel and his family? We pray that he will continue to follow God’s calling in his life and that he will continue to spread the gospel in Sierra Leone. Also, join us in praying for our children and staff as they navigate this transition. Pastor Daniel has been a part of The Raining Season since the very beginning. He has been a pillar of stability, a mentor, pastor, guardian, counselor, and more to both the children and the staff, and his absence will be felt.

In the words of Pastor Daniel, God is good all the time. All the time, God is good.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
