7 Ways to Pray for The Raining Season This Week

Prayer has always been an important part of The Raining Season’s story. Time and time again, we have seen God provide, protect, and make a way where there seemed to be no way. This week, we invite you to join us in prayer. Whether you pray once or every day, please know that your prayers matter to our children, staff, and community.

Pray for Students Taking National Exams

This month, six of our students will sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), an exam that will allow them to move on to secondary school in September. At the same time, several of our young adults are completing the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) as they prepare for university opportunities. Pray for wisdom, focus, confidence, and peace as they take these exams. We pray that God will bless their hard work and open doors for their futures.

Pray for Protection During the Rainy Season

Sierra Leone will soon enter the heaviest of the rainy season. The rains often bring challenges, including increased illness, flooding, and difficult travel conditions. Please pray for God’s protection over our children, staff, and surrounding community. Pray for good health, physical strength, and safety throughout the rainy months. We pray that God will guard The Covering and protect families throughout Freetown from flooding and other dangers associated with the season.

Pray for the Team Serving in Sierra Leone

A team has been serving alongside us in Sierra Leone over the past week. These visits create opportunities for encouragement, relationship-building, and hands-on ministry with both our children, staff, and the surrounding community. Pray that their remaining time in-country would be productive and meaningful. We pray for strengthened relationships, lasting impact, and safe travels as they prepare to return home.

Pray for The Covering

On August 31, our annual rent payment for The Covering is due. This significant expense provides much more than a building. It provides safety, stability, and shelter for nearly 100 children. It is also home to our church and school, both of which serve the broader community.  As you pray, thank God for His faithful provision through the years. Pray that The Covering will continue to be a place where children are protected, educated, discipled, and loved. Ask God to provide every resource needed so that this refuge can continue serving vulnerable children and families in the coming year.

Pray for Our Staff and Their Families

Our staff faithfully serve the children of The Raining Season every day. They pour out their energy, compassion, and dedication both at work and at home. Pray for endurance as they carry out their responsibilities. Ask God to strengthen them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Pray for protection over their families and that they would experience God’s peace, encouragement, and provision in their lives.

Pray for New Opportunities for In-Country Partnerships

Over the years, God has used many organizations and individuals within Sierra Leone to bless The Raining Season. Partnerships with groups such as World Hope International’s Enable the Children program, Young Life, and many others have created meaningful opportunities for our children and staff. Please pray for continued and new partnerships within Sierra Leone. Ask God to open doors for collaboration, provide opportunities for growth, and connect us with organizations and individuals who share a heart for serving vulnerable children and strengthening communities.

Pray for the Health of Our Children

The health and well-being of our children remains a constant prayer need. In particular, we ask for prayer for the children living in the Hope Apartment, some of whom face unique and complex health challenges that can be difficult to address within Sierra Leone. Pray for healing, strength, access to needed care, and wisdom for those helping manage their medical needs. Above all, pray that each child would experience God’s comfort, peace, and presence in the midst of every challenge.

Thank you for standing with The Raining Season in prayer this week. Your prayers strengthen our mission, encourage our staff, and cover our children with hope. We serve a faithful God, and we are grateful for a community that continues to lift this ministry before Him.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
