A Generous Gift from the Foundation of Türkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone
As a new school year begins in Sierra Leone, The Raining Season is celebrating another generous gift that will help support our children both inside and outside the classroom!
In mid-October, the Foundation of Türkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone (FTGSL), in partnership with the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), organized a special donation event at the Sport Zone at Lumley Beach. The event was part of a larger initiative to provide essential school supplies to 1,500 vulnerable and orphaned children across Sierra Leone, including children from The Raining Season.
Each child received educational materials to help prepare them for a successful school year. The donations included school uniforms, shoes, backpacks, books, pens, pencils, and other essential classroom supplies. In addition to the school materials, The Raining Season also received a generous gift of meat, which was given to our cooks to prepare nutritious meals for the children at The Covering.
These gifts are a wonderful blessing! Having the proper supplies helps our children and children across Sierra Leone enter the classroom prepared and ready to learn, while the additional food helps meet everyday nutritional needs at The Raining Season.
Founded in 2020, the Foundation of Türkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening connections between Sierra Leonean graduates of Turkish institutions and their local communities. Through educational programs, scholarships, and community initiatives, FTGSL creates opportunities and makes a lasting difference throughout Sierra Leone.
This is not the first time FTGSL’s generosity has blessed the Raining Season. Earlier this year, the organization and its partners supported several improvements at The Covering, including building repairs, painting, roofing improvements, and donations of new beds, mattresses, and other essential items. Their continued partnership is a reminder of the many people and organizations working together to care for children in Sierra Leone.
At The Raining Season, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Generous donations like these work alongside our sponsorship program to help make that possible, and we are grateful for the organizations that share this commitment.
To the Foundation of Türkiye Graduates in Sierra Leone and the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, THANK YOU! Thank you for remembering our children, investing in their education, and helping meet their everyday needs. Your generosity extends far beyond the gifts themselves, providing encouragement, opportunity, and hope for a brighter future. We are truly grateful for your continued kindness and support!
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
