The Ashland Methodist Church in Ashland, Nebraska, has been a faithful partner of The Raining Season for several years. Through child sponsorship and ongoing support, they have played an active role in supporting the children at The Covering in Sierra Leone. Several members of the church traveled to Sierra Leone in March 2024 to visit The Covering, meet the children they sponsor, and witness firsthand the impact of their partnership. Their commitment to this mission continues to grow, and this summer, they once again turned their heart for The Raining Season into action.

Each July, during Ashland’s annual “Stir-Up Days” celebration, the church hosts an ice cream social. It is an event that combines fellowship, hospitality, and generosity, and this year, it was all for the children of The Raining Season.

This year’s ice cream social was a huge success. Church members and volunteers prepared twenty-one gallons of homemade ice cream, eighteen pies, as well as six cakes and brownies, offering guests a wide selection of sweet treats. Volunteers also gave their time to serve ice cream, pour beverages, clean tables, and ensure that the event ran smoothly from start to finish.

An estimated one hundred fifty people attended the event and generously gave through freewill giving. Each contribution made during this year’s ice cream social helps support The Raining Season’s mission of providing safety, nutrition, education, medical care, and spiritual guidance to the children at The Covering.

A BIG thank you to the Ashland Methodist Church for their faithful partnership and to every volunteer who made this event possible. Through their hospitality and generosity, they are helping transform lives and bring hope to vulnerable children. We are so grateful for their faithful commitment to our mission. Their ice cream social not only raised funds but also raised awareness, reminding their community that they are part of a global story of hope.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
