Salma’s Birthday Visit to The Covering

Some traditions become especially meaningful over time. At The Raining Season, one of those traditions is Salma's annual birthday visit to The Covering. At the end of May, Salma returned to celebrate her birthday with our children and staff for the ninth year. What began years ago through a simple connection has grown into a tradition of generosity, kindness, and community.

Salma first learned about The Raining Season while working as an accountant at the Swiss Hotel, where many of our visiting teams stay during their time in Sierra Leone. After meeting with our co-founder, Osseh Kamara, she became familiar with The Raining Season's mission and developed a heart for the children and families we serve. Since then, she has faithfully chosen to celebrate her birthday by giving back to The Raining Season.

This year's visit was another incredible blessing. Salma arrived at The Covering with a large donation of supplies to support the daily needs of the children in our care. She also brought two beautiful birthday cakes along with food and refreshments to share with everyone. The children were excited to gather together to celebrate, sing, and enjoy this special occasion.

Birthdays are often a time to reflect on the blessings in our own lives. Year after year, Salma has used hers as an opportunity to bless others. Her consistent generosity has impacted countless children and staff members over the years, and her visits have become something our community looks forward to each May.

As we celebrate this ninth year of Salma's birthday tradition, we are reminded that faithfulness matters. Showing up year after year, loving others consistently, and giving generously can make a lasting difference.
