Celebrating Freedom at The Raining Season

We have shared this message before, but every year it feels worth revisiting because the reminder is important. Freedom is something we should never take for granted.

This time of year leaves us reflecting on the meaning of freedom. Independence Day holds deep significance in both Sierra Leone and the United States. While Sierra Leone celebrates Independence Day each year on April 27th, many of our faithful supporters in the U.S. will gather on July 4th to celebrate their own Independence Day. Though these celebrations come from different histories and experiences, they both point to something powerful: freedom.

At The Raining Season, freedom is more than a national celebration. It is something our children experience every day because of the love, care, and commitment of our staff and the faithful support of people like you.

Because of your prayers, generosity, and partnership, and because of the incredible, faithful staff who walk alongside our children daily, freedom is taking shape in life-changing ways. Our children experience freedom in Christ,  freedom from the burden of sin, freedom from fear, and freedom to know they are loved and valued. They experience freedom from hunger, freedom from uncertainty, and freedom from the barriers that poverty can create. They experience freedom to dream, learn, and pursue a future filled with hope through education and encouragement.

At The Raining Season, our mission remains the same: to stand in the gap for vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. Until every child has the opportunity to thrive, we will continue to show up, serve faithfully, and believe that every life has purpose and potential.

This work is possible because of a community of people who choose to walk alongside us. Your partnership helps create a future where children are not defined by their circumstances but are given the opportunity to grow, learn, and flourish.

Thank you for joining us in this work. We celebrate the freedom our children experience today and pray for even greater freedom for tomorrow.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
