Discover Sierra Leone: River No. 2 Beach

Did you know that Sierra Leone is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in West Africa? One of the country’s most popular destinations is River No. 2 Beach, located along the Freetown Peninsula. With its soft sand, palm trees, and beautiful waters, it is easy to see why both locals and visitors love spending the day there.

River No. 2 Beach is especially unique because it is where a river flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The  warm and gentle waters make it a great place for swimming, wading, and enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

Through the years, many of our teams have visited River No. 2 Beach with the children from The Covering for beach day. For the children, it is a special day filled with laughter, games, and time to simply enjoy being kids. They love splashing in the water, playing in the sand, soccer on the beach, and making memories with the teams.

A visit to River No. 2 Beach would not be complete without enjoying a delicious meal. Fresh seafood is prepared and served right on the beach. Many of our teams enjoy grilled fish and other local favorites while taking in the beautiful ocean views. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience Sierra Leonean hospitality and cuisine.

Visitors also enjoy exploring the small market located near the beach. Local vendors sell handmade jewelry, colorful African skirts and dresses, hand-carved wooden figures, paintings, and other unique crafts. These handmade items make great souvenirs while also supporting local artisans and their families.

We are grateful that so many of our teams and children have had the opportunity to experience this beautiful part of Sierra Leone together. Traveling with The Raining Season is an opportunity to serve alongside our staff and encourage the children at The Covering. It is also an opportunity to discover the incredible beauty, culture, and hospitality that make Sierra Leone such a special place.

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
