Maligie Bangura: How it Started & How it's Going

The Raining Season provides a safe place to live, opportunity through education, nutritious food, essential medical care, and spiritual nurturing every day to ninety-five children and young adults at the Center and through the Roots Project. Some children may only be placed in our care for a short time, while others have been part of The Raining Season family since nearly the very beginning.

Regardless of how much time they spend in our care, we know one thing for sure. They will be loved, cared for, and discipled by an incredible staff and backed by sponsors who will love them, pray for them, and provide financial support.

Meet Maligie Bangura. This week, Maligie is our latest child to be recognized in our ongoing How it Started - How it’s Going feature.

How it Started - Maligie was born on March 20, 2003. He came to The Raining Season in January of 2010, at just six years old. After his father passed away, Maligie’s mother was unable to care for him.

Because of The Raining Season, Maligie was able to attend school, receive medical care for bumps, bruises, and illnesses, and grow in his faith.

How it’s Going - Today, Maligie is seventeen years old. He is a calm and gentle soul. As you can see in the pictures, Maligie has grown from a little boy to a young man in the eleven years he has been a part of The Raining Season. It has been amazing watching him grow and develop over the years. Because of sponsorship and an incredible staff to care for him, Maligie is not only surviving, but he is THRIVING! He is healthy and growing big and strong. He is excelling in school.

Last August, he took the National School Exam and was promoted to grade seven. Now, he joins many of our children who are attending school outside of the Center. Maligie’s favorite subject in school is English, and he enjoys playing soccer. When Maligie grows up, he dreams of becoming a doctor. He is well cared for and knows that he is loved. Maligie’s story would have looked very different had it not been for The Raining Season. Thank you for being a part of Maligie’s story and helping him achieve his hopes and dreams.
