Meet Alusine

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, we have watched our children grow, heal, and thrive under our roof. They have passed exams, been spiritually nurtured, and developed relationships with their sponsors. But most importantly, because of your support, The Raining Season offers a safe place to live, opportunity through education, nutritious food, essential medical care, and spiritual nurturing every day.

This past September, we welcomed ten new children to our center. It is through the gracious support of people like you that when there is a child in need, The Raining Season can say yes. Ninety-nine children currently call The Raining Season home. Ninety-nine children have a bed to sleep in, aunties and uncles to care for them, three meals a day, and the chance to go to school.

Alusine is one of the ninety-nine reasons why we say “yes” every day. Just last week, Alusine celebrated his 18th birthday. Alusine came to The Raining Season in 2015. He enjoys playing soccer in his free time and making others laugh, which he does by showing off his crazy dance moves. Alusine’s favorite foods are chicken and chips and also pizza.

Education is important to Alusine. He recently received his results from the Basic Education Certificate Examination and found out he passed! Passing this very important exam means he is officially ready for grade 10. His favorite subject is math. Like many of our boys, he dreams of becoming a professional soccer player one day. He looks up to professional soccer players like Messi and Ronaldo. However, he also has a goal to become a businessman or accountant. Our children have opportunity through education. They can dream of becoming doctors, lawyers, and business people because they value education and study hard to pass their exams.

At The Covering, Alusine also receives spiritual nurturing every day. Pastor Daniel and the rest of our staff disciple the children through church, bible studies, and devotions. Alusine enjoys going to church and studying God’s word. His favorite bible verse is Matthew 5:10, which reads, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” This is Alusine’s favorite verse because “Jesus is trying to encourage we the Christian that where people are saying all kinds of bad words against us because we are doing the right thing we should never give up, because our reward is the kingdom of heaven.”

Alusine has grown in his faith, excelled in school, and built many relationships since coming to The Raining Season. Thank you for being a part of Alusine’s story at The Raining Season. Because of people like you, Alusine can look forward to a bright future. Alusine’s story would have looked very different had it not been for The Raining Season. Now, he has hopes and dreams and, because of The Raining Season, a chance that those hopes and dreams just might become a reality.

I would like to share that God loves you all, and may God guide and protect you all.

Alusine
