The Raining Season

👋🏼 Meet Comfort Sourie

The Covering is a home away from home for so many of our staff members. They often work long, overnight shifts as caregivers to our children. During Ebola and our COVID-19 lockdowns, many left their own families to stay 24/7 at The Covering to care for our children. Our caregivers go above and beyond to not only care for but also love and disciple our children.

It is always an honor to share our amazing staff with you. As we close out our building campaign, we reflect on how a building allows us to welcome children into our care, but it's our staff that makes The Covering home. This month, we are excited to introduce you to one of our caregivers, Comfort Sourie.

Comfort has been with The Raining Season for more than three years. She serves as an Auntie in the Hope Apartment. As an Auntie in the Hope Apartment, she provides care to our special needs children. Our children in the Hope Apartment are extraordinary in every way. They thrive because of the excellent care they receive from their aunties. Comfort described her job as providing daily care, including the children's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Comfort graduated from St. Joseph Covenant Secondary School in Makeni. She is married with three daughters.

Auntie Comfort shared that she enjoys working for The Raining Season because it is a Christian organization. She is also grateful for her co-workers and leadership staff for the advice they share. Her vision for The Raining Season is to see the children grow up to be better people in society.

Auntie Comfort, thank you for showing up every single day. Thank you for loving the children as your own, and thank you for meeting our kids in their most vulnerable places, loving them, caring for them, and discipling them.

Join us in continuing to pray for our caregivers and staff. We pray for the impact they have on our children as well as the daily challenges of raising children while also tending to their personal lives and families.

Our 2021 Matthew 25 Building Campaign is winding down. However, this week, we were once again reminded that GOD IS SO GOOD! In one week, we more than DOUBLED donations for our building campaign. With one week to go, we have raised $39,447. Thanks to your generosity and prayers, we are 72% of the way to our $55,000 goal. From the very bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! We are SO grateful; however, we still need you. This week we need to raise $15,553 to close out our Matthew 25 Building Campaign, and we can only do it with your help.

Have you been on the fence about donating? Are you waiting to see if someone else steps in to help us meet the goal first? We are seven days away from August 31st, when our rent is due. If you have been waiting, now is the time! DONATE before it is too late!

Many blessings,

The Raining Season
