Again and again, we have seen how love and action transforms lives at The Raining Season. Over the years, we have been incredibly blessed to witness that truth through the unwavering generosity of many people who have visited The Covering. Whether it was a special visitor from Sierra Leone, a celebrity, or a team visiting from the U.S., their kindness has blessed our children and staff in countless ways.

A recent visitor, Salma, graciously blessed The Raining Season. Salma learned about The Raining Season when she worked as an accountant at the Swiss Hotel. At the time, our teams traveling to Sierra Leone stayed at the Swiss Hotel, which is just down the street from the center. Our co-founder, Osseh Kamara, got to know her when he would meet with her to settle the account from the teams’ stays. Those visits sparked a conversation that led to a connection and, eventually, a commitment on her part to the mission and heart of The Raining Season.
Now, for the past eight years, Salma has chosen to celebrate her birthday with our children and staff at the center. Each year, she has shown up with gifts, ready to turn her special day into something meaningful for others. This year was no exception. On her birthday at the end of May, Salma brought bags of rice, vegetable oil, onions, salt, milk, sugar, tomato paste, sanitary pads, and one hundred bundles of water. These supplies are not just helpful but essential to our daily operations and a huge blessing.

Salma’s birthday celebration didn’t stop with the supplies. She also brought food and drinks to share with the children and a cake to cut and enjoy together. The children enjoyed this special celebration as they sang happy birthday, smiled, danced and celebrated alongside her. What a gift it is to have someone turn their birthday into a day of giving back to The Raining Season!

Salma has a heart for serving others, and her generosity is not only inspiring but also greatly appreciated. Thank you, Salma. Thank you for showing up. You are a reminder of how one person can make a lasting difference. Happy birthday, and we are so thankful you chose to celebrate at The Covering.
Many blessings,
The Raining Season
