This week, in our latest How it Started – How it’s Going feature, we are looking back at where Zainab’s story with TRS began and celebrating how far she has come.

How it Started – Meet Zainab. Zainab has called The Raining Season home for more than ten years. In 2012, when she was eight years old, Zainab and three of her siblings came to TRS. Their mother was unable to care for them, and it was too much for their father to do alone, so he sought help. Zainab and her siblings were initially placed in separate locations, but The Raining Season was able to bring the children together at The Covering.

How it’s Going – Zainab is preparing to celebrate her nineteenth birthday on July 12th. Since coming to The Raining Season, she has grown from a young child into a young lady with hopes and dreams. She has grown in her faith, progressed in school, and built many relationships over the years. She is just finishing grade eight and hoping to promote to grade nine next school year. Her best subject in school is English. In her free time, she enjoys reading and attending bible study. Zainab’s favorite chore is helping her Aunties in the kitchen and washing the pots and pans.

We are so grateful to see Zainab thriving. She is growing into a beautiful young lady. Because of people like you, Zainab can look forward to a bright future. She has been able to call the center home for nearly eleven years, thanks to the many sponsors that support her each month. Because of The Raining Season, Zainab has a safe place to call home. She is cared for and discipled every day. She attends school, has a comfortable bed to sleep in, and receives three meals a day. When she is sick, she receives medical care. Most importantly, Zainab knows that she is loved. She has always been a joyful child, but because of The Raining Season, she has opportunities she might not have had otherwise.
